Happy New Year to you all. Hope your Christmas was merry and bright and that you saw the New Year in with some style and class and that your head isn't too sore today. Personally, I was asleep for the bell's [hangs head in shame]! Must do better next year.
So with the dawning of the New Year and a new century also comes the next challenge for We Should Cocoa. Many thanks to everyone who managed to find the time to create something in the lead up to Christmas for the December challenge of dates set by Choclette. If you missed out on the round up please do check it out, there are some very inventive bloggers out there ;0)
It has actually been a pretty tough call trying to finalise this month's challenge, there are so many things to consider; What is in season? Will people want to make anything too calorie laden? Is there any point setting a low fat challenge? In the end it came down to a clear out of my store cupboard and hopefully a challenge that everyone can get something out of. If you are anything like me, you over bought on certain store cupboard items in the lead up to the feasting period, so this month's challenge is .... surplus stock or leftover's. Do what you will with the challenge, its pretty much an open one, just make sure you use chocolate and state what your surplus stock was, post your creation on your blog by the 25th of January and send an email with your name, a link to your post and a photo to weshouldcocoa@yahoo.co.uk. The round up will appear on this blog sometime between the 26th and 31st Jan.
Happy creating ;0)

A wide open challenge to lead us gently into the new year, thank you. I'll have to scour the storecupboard - the only thing that springs to mind at the moment, as an excess Christmas purchase, is Goose Fat! LOL!
ReplyDeleteReally thoughtful of you Chele - fridge is due a clear out!!
ReplyDeleteAlways happy to help Brownieville Girl ... but Suelle I don't fancy your chances much hehehehe
ReplyDeleteEw goose fat and chocolate?! Good idea for a challenge, I'm sure I'll find something suitable!!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, I will take a look in my store cupboard.
ReplyDeleteYes I have an idea, even two for leftover recipes. But I'm intrigued but the goose fat maybe savoury? Willie HC book here I come!
ReplyDeleteHmm, goose fat and chocolate - cocoa roast potatoes maybe? This is a difficult one, because now I really have to think! I do have lots of dates!!!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't say I was going to use the goose fat, just that it was the only 'leftover' I could think of without hunting through the fridge and cupboard. I've found chestnuts, candied peel and mincemeat now, and a packet of chocolate stars made for cake decorations. I'll produce something which won't disgust you! LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhat, I was really hoping for a goose fat creation! This is really tricky actually, as our cupboards seem permanently bare at the moment. Hmmm, the one thing we DO have lots of is flour... which is hardly very exciting!
ReplyDeleteoh god you're so right... if I see another bit of sugar or chocolate again I may explode ... but give me 24 hours and a rainy day and i'll be back in the game! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeletebrilliant idea for the new year! I've just been through the cupboards (and fridge, freezer and the pantry!)and the only sweet things we have is jaffa cakes! This is going to be tricky!
ReplyDeleteI have so many things leftover including 2 giant blocks of chocolate (800g worth) for a chocolate fountain that was never used! I'll get my thinking cap on :)
